In a heartwarming initiative to inspire young minds, the AeroDarat Services (ADS) team at Lapangan Terbang Sultan Abdul Halim Alor Setar (AOR) played host to 100 students from Sekolah Menengah Tunku Abdul Malik and Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Kepala Batas, Alor Setar, Kedah on the 3rd and 4th October 2023. The initiave, named MYAirportCARES, was a collaborative effort between ADS and Malaysia Airports Berhad (MAHB).

ADS, a prominent ground handling company overseeing operations at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and 16 other airports across Malaysia, recognized the significance of providing students with a firsthand experience of the aviation industry. The visit aimed to broaden their horizons and offer insights into the various aspects of airport operations and career opportunities within the industry.

Haji Mohd Shahar Affendi bin Ishak, the station head at Aerodarat Alor Setar, couldn’t hide his enthusiasm as he witnessed the joy on the students’ faces when they received mockup boarding passes.

He stated, “Students couldn’t contain their excitement as they had the opportunity to check in at the counter and embark on an airport tour, including a visit to the tarmac.”

“The visit provided students with a unique opportunity to witness the inner workings of an airport, shedding light on the multitude of functions and roles involved in its seamless operation.”

“It was a day of discovery as they interacted with airport personnel, observed aircraft up close, and learned about the intricate processes that ensure the safety and efficiency of air travel,” Haji Mohd Sahar added.

The program concluded at 12.00pm with a session for light refreshments. This initiative aligns with the broader mission of nurturing a new generation of aviation enthusiasts and professionals by exposing them to the multifaceted world of aviation.

In a significant milestone for travelers and aviation enthusiasts, Xiamen Airlines has proudly launched its direct flight service from Xiamen, China to Penang, Malaysia. The commencement of this route marks a remarkable moment as the first direct connection between the two cities since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.

On 28th September 2023, Flight MF8705 embarked on its maiden journey, departing from Xiamen (XMN), and gracefully landed at Penang International Airport (PEN), well ahead of its scheduled arrival time.

This inaugural flight, operated by the Boeing 737-800, symbolizes a significant step towards revitalizing international travel. The service operates three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, with passengers arriving at Penang International Airport at approximately 6:30 PM and departing at 7:30 PM.

The event was graced by VIPs from the Penang State Government and the China Embassy in Penang, who joined in welcoming the passengers. The inbound flight from Xiamen carried a total of 159 passengers, while the return flight to Xiamen saw 106 passengers from Penang. As international travel resumes its upward trajectory, this new direct flight connection between Xiamen and Penang promises exciting opportunities for travelers and further enhances Penang’s status as a sought-after destination.

AeroDarat Services (ADS) hosted a Mini Safety Campaign that resonated with its core values of prioritizing safety in the workplace on 26th September 2023 at Amethyst 1 and 2, FMB. The campaign was organized by the ADS Quality Assurance, Safety, Security & Compliance (QASSC) Department, driven by a vision to cultivate a robust culture of safety among ADS staff, as well as related vendors’ staff.

At this engaging event, ADS had the privilege of welcoming Mr. Shaiful Abdul, Mr. Mohamad Zubair Ghazali and Ms. Erni Yusliza Mudri from the MA Sepang Airside Services Department. These experts shared their profound insights into airside safety compliance and best practices, offering valuable perspectives that will undoubtedly enhance safety measures within ADS.

The event started with inspiring opening remarks from Mr. Shaiful Abdul Rahman (Senior Manager, MA Sepang Airside Services), and Mrs. Shahfinaz Abd Wahid (Head of QASSC), who represented the ADS team.

The event featured enlightening sessions that delved into the details of airside safety. Mr. Mohamad Zubair Ghazali (Senior Executive, Airside Services KLIA Operations), delivered an informative speech on airside offenses, shedding light on critical aspects of safety compliance.

Meanwhile, Ms. Erni Yusliza Mudri from MA Sepang Licensing, provided a comprehensive overview of demerits and penalties associated with airside violations. Her expertise interpreted the practical implementation of airside penalties, ensuring that attendees left with a clear understanding of the consequences of safety infractions.

ADS Mini Safety Campaign ended on a high note with engaging quiz sessions hosted by MA Sepang, testing attendees’ safety knowledge. The event also featured exciting lucky draws that added an element of fun and anticipation.

As part of its commitment to promoting awareness and creating potential career opportunities in the aviation industry, AeroDarat Services (ADS) successfully organized an outreach program in collaboration with BAKA Aircademy on 9th August 2023, involving 28 of their enthusiastic trainees. The program was led by Puteri Fakhira Ikhsan, LEAP Executive that currently assigned to ADS.

The program’s primary objectives include raising awareness of ADS’s ‘Above the Wing’ and ‘Below the Wing’ services, while also nurturing students’ interest in potential careers within the ground-handling field. Furthermore, this initiative was designed with a broader purpose in mind. It aspired not only to promote ADS’s positive brand image but also to convey ADS’s commitment to being the reliable and preferred ground-handling solution for its stakeholders.

Noor Azlin Lokeman, the Head, Standard & Procedure ADS, expressed her optimism on ADS’s team and their commitment to this initiative.

“Aligned with ADS’s vision to be the ‘Preferred ground handling solution for global airlines,’ this collaborative effort stands as a symbol of encouragement and knowledge. It not only opens doors to a promising aviation future but also underscores ADS’s dedication to driving the industry forward through meaningful interactions.”

“I would like to express my gratitude to Puteri Fakhira Ikhsan, the Project Manager, as well as entire team for their hard work. This initiative marks one of ADS’s proactive steps towards familiarizing aviation academy students with real-world ground-handling services,” she emphasized.

Throughout the program, ADS demonstrated its services and expertise through various engaging activities, such as:

  • KLIA Familiarization Visit: The program encompassed an enlightening tour of KLIA, affording trainees the chance to observe ADS’s ground operations in real-time.
  • Sharing Sessions: A series of insightful sharing sessions were conducted, featuring key topics such as:
    • Introduction to ADS and Ground Operations by Noor Azlin Lokeman (Head, Standard & Procedure) offered an in-depth exploration of the core functions driving ADS’s operational excellence.
    • Ground Operations Hospitality by Hashimah @ Aziah Abdul Rahman (Duty Manager, KUL Passenger Services FOCA Office) rooted into the art of delivering exceptional service within ground handling operations.
    • Interview Tips by Mohamad Khairi Ngadiran (Manager, Project Management Office) armed students with valuable insights to excel in job interviews.
    • Grooming Etiquette by Siti Salina Othman (Senior Trainer, Training & Certification) highlighted the importance of professional appearance.

As she looked ahead, Noor Azlin Lokeman concluded, “Moving forward, we are unwavering in our commitment to nurturing these connections with other esteemed institutions within the aviation circle.”

Prior to this outreach program, ADS actively participated in two of BAKA Aircademy’s insightful Career Talk and Open Day programs. These talks were organized by BAKA Aircademy’s with prospective students and were conducted on 16th July in Kota Damansara and on 30th July in Kuching, Sarawak.

AeroDarat Services Sdn. Bhd. Sichuan Airlines, a regional airline headquartered at Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport (CTU) in Chengdu, Sichuan, People’s Republic of China, has chosen ADS as its reliable partner.

The inaugural flight of Sichuan Airlines to KLIA took place on the 21st September 2023, and it was greeted with great enthusiasm by the ADS team. The  Airbus 321 (Flight Number 3U 3749) arriving from Haikou (HAK), China touched down at 2:24 p.m. local time, carrying 100 passengers on board.

Following its arrival, the aircraft with flight number 3U 3750 was prepared for its return journey to Haikou, China, scheduled to depart just one hour after arrival. This efficient turnaround showcased ADS’s expertise and reliability in delivering swift and dependable ground handling services to its valued partners.

Currently, ADS is entrusted with the ground handling operations of over 45 foreign carriers, including renowned airlines such as Japan Airlines, China Airlines, Korean Air, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Saudia, and many others. The addition of Sichuan Airlines to this esteemed list further solidifies ADS’s position as a trusted partner in the aviation ground handling industry.

As ADS continues to expand its network and attract new partners, the company remains dedicated to upholding its core values of safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction. AeroDarat Services (ADS) recently participated in Baka Aircademy’s career talk and open day session held at the vibrant city of Kuching on 30th July 2023. The event, which aimed to provide insights into various careers within the aviation industry, witnessed the enthusiastic presence of more than 120 attendees, including parents and potential students of Baka Aircademy.

This marked the second time that ADS had collaborated with Baka Aircademy for their career talk, the first one being held on 16th July at SVOFO @ Sky Garden, Sunway Nexis Kota Damansara. The initiative highlights ADS’s commitment to nurturing young talents and promoting career opportunities in the aviation sector.

The career talk session in Kuching featured Norjanah Mat Resih, ADS Duty Supervisor Domestic Ops Kuching, sharing her vast industry experience,  illuminating glimpse into the operational aspects of ADS and the diverse job opportunities that the company offers. During the engaging session, Norjanah shared her personal journey within the aviation industry and elucidated the pivotal role played by ADS in ensuring efficient ground handling services at airports across Malaysia. She emphasized the importance of a well-coordinated ground handling process, which encompasses essential tasks such as baggage handling, passenger boarding assistance and others.

In addition to addressing potential students, Norjanah also engaged with parents, assuaging their concerns and providing them with a comprehensive understanding of the stability and prospects associated with a career in ground handling. The attendees were informed about the training and development programs offered by ADS to groom and upskill its employees, providing a nurturing environment for personal and professional growth.

played by ground handling personnel in ensuring seamless airport operations. Attendees gained
a comprehensive understanding of the diverse career opportunities available within the industry,
including roles in baggage handling, ramp services, passenger services, and others.

Furthermore, Suriyati and Hashimah shared their personal stories and successes, inspiring the
audience to consider pursuing a career in the aviation sector. They emphasized the importance
of continuous learning, adaptability, and passion for the industry as key factors for personal and
professional growth.

AeroDarat Services (ADS) is proud to announce the successful completion of the Renewal IATA
Safety Audit for Ground Operations (ISAGO). The renewal audits were held consecutively which
Headquarters Registration Audit from 19 – 21Jun 23 and the KUL Station Accreditation from 22
– 24 Jun 23.

The opening and closing sessions took place at ADS Amethyst Room 2, Ground Floor, Flight
Management Building (FMB), together with ISAGO Task Force members and key ADS
representatives. The ADS management was represented by Mr Navindran Rasasingam (Head,
Passenger Services & Station Management), Mr Sudirman Kushairi (Head, Ramp & Operations
Management), Puan Shahfinaz Abd Wahid (Head, Quality Assurance-Safety, Security &
Compliance), MC members, and support staff members.

The IATA has appointed ISAGO Agent from the Wake QA company to conduct an audit of ADS.
The three experienced ISAGO auditors are Eunice Wachira (Lead Auditor) from Nairobi, Ahmed
Mehana from Dubai, and Harender Singh Negi from Delhi. Their presence and expertise ensured
a comprehensive evaluation of our ground-handling operations.

Ahmed Mehana, the ISAGO auditor, engages in discussions with the ADS team during
the audit process. The core aim of ISAGO is to foster the standardization of operational
procedures and management among Ground Handling Service Providers (GHSPs)

ADS has been certified with ISAGO since 2018, and this year is the 5th renewal audit reflecting
our ongoing commitment to maintaining high standards in ground handling services. ISAGO
serves as an industry program for the global oversight of ground-handling service providers
(GHSPs). Its primary objective is to drive the standardization of operational procedures and
management among GHSPs, while also fostering the harmonization of best practices within the
ground-handling industry.

The significance of ISAGO cannot be overstated, as it plays a vital role in enhancing aviation
safety worldwide. By standardizing safety standards and recommended practices, ISAGO
minimizes potential risks associated with ground handling operations. It serves as an invaluable
resource and a significant safety driver for all parties involved.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the ISAGO auditors for their professionalism, meticulousness,
and insightful recommendations throughout the audit process. We would also like to acknowledge
and appreciate the hard work and commitment of our ADS staff who actively participated in the
audits and demonstrated their dedication to upholding safety standards.
