In a heartwarming initiative to inspire young minds, the AeroDarat Services (ADS) team at Lapangan Terbang Sultan Abdul Halim Alor Setar (AOR) played host to 100 students from Sekolah Menengah Tunku Abdul Malik and Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Kepala Batas, Alor Setar, Kedah on the 3rd and 4th October 2023. The initiave, named MYAirportCARES, was a collaborative effort between ADS and Malaysia Airports Berhad (MAHB).
ADS, a prominent ground handling company overseeing operations at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and 16 other airports across Malaysia, recognized the significance of providing students with a firsthand experience of the aviation industry. The visit aimed to broaden their horizons and offer insights into the various aspects of airport operations and career opportunities within the industry.
Haji Mohd Shahar Affendi bin Ishak, the station head at Aerodarat Alor Setar, couldn’t hide his enthusiasm as he witnessed the joy on the students’ faces when they received mockup boarding passes.
He stated, “Students couldn’t contain their excitement as they had the opportunity to check in at the counter and embark on an airport tour, including a visit to the tarmac.”
“The visit provided students with a unique opportunity to witness the inner workings of an airport, shedding light on the multitude of functions and roles involved in its seamless operation.”
“It was a day of discovery as they interacted with airport personnel, observed aircraft up close, and learned about the intricate processes that ensure the safety and efficiency of air travel,” Haji Mohd Sahar added.
The program concluded at 12.00pm with a session for light refreshments. This initiative aligns with the broader mission of nurturing a new generation of aviation enthusiasts and professionals by exposing them to the multifaceted world of aviation.
